One on One mentoring

Kids come in all different shapes, sizes, ability & confidence levels and of course different personality types. We all do and our children shouldn’t be any different to the different types of adults that we all know.

Although children come to Cantab Education for a wide variety of reasons or issues, we have touched slightly on two of the most common below.

Your child may be very shy and retiring and because of this is unable to assert themselves in the short classes they have in schools. It’s easy to get lost in the big crowds that are Hong Kong school classrooms. Being shy or just quiet can of just be a natural trit of a good, hard working, studious child but of course there are times when children who lack the confidence or presence to speak out or stand out at school will be somewhat forgotten in class and their studies can sometimes suffer. Cantab’s ‘1-2-1 Mentoring’ classes are designed to ensure that a tutor and mentor can be found to meet the social, educational and emotional level of understanding that your child requires to advance socially and educationally.

The flip side to the shy retiring student is of course the child with the big, brash and exciting personality. We all think that these students should prosper in school and in social situations as we think that they have the confidence in their own ability to do just about anything. This of course can often be true but we all know students who are that busy being the centre of attention, being the most popular boy or girl in class that they often miss a lot of the work that they should be doing in school. Classes for ‘big personality’ students are designed to allow students to use their social skills and confidence to ensure that they move forward in their studies.

The future development of your child will always remain our number 1 concern and students requesting 1-2-1 classes are always invited to meet the tutors first to ensure that they can move forward together. It is only after parent, teacher and especially the child are happy to start classes that we would consider offering an invitation to attend.
